General competences of UAB’s graduates

Specific competences 
CE1 Provide technical and professional healthcare adequate to the patient’s needs, in accordance to the state of development of the scientific knowledge up to that day and with the quality and security levels established in the appropriate legal and deontological standards. 
CE2 Plan and provide healthcare directed to people or groups, orientated to health results evaluating their impact, through clinical practice and assistance guides describing the processes through which to identify, treat or take care of a health problem.
 
CE3 Apply fundaments and theoretical and methodological principles of nursing. 
CE4 Demonstrate knowledge on interactive behavior of the patient depending of his/her gender, group or community, within his/her social and multicultural context. 
CE5 Design healthcare systems directed to people, families or groups, evaluating their impact end establishing the appropriate modifications. 
CE6 Base nursing interventions in scientific evidence and in the available means.
CE7 Demonstrate an understanding, without prejudices, towards people, considering their physical, psychological and social aspects, as autonomous and independent individuals, assuring respect toward their opinions, beliefs and values, and guaranteeing their right to intimacy through confidentiality and professional secret. 
CE8 Promote and respect the right of participation, information, autonomy and consent, informing in the decision making process of the people being cared for, in accordance to the way they live their health – illness process.

Encourage healthy lifestyles, self-care, supporting the maintenance of preventive and therapeutic behaviours. 
CE10 Protect people’s health and well-being ensuring their security.
 
CE11 Establish an effective communication with patients, family, social groups and colleagues and encourage health education. 
CE12 Demonstrate knowledge on the ethical and deontological codes of Spanish nursing, understanding health ethical implications in a global context of constant transformation.
 
CE13 Demonstrate a knowledge on healthcare financing principles and adequately use the available resources. 
CE14 Establish evaluation mechanisms considering all scientific-technical aspects and quality aspects. 
CE15 Work with the professional team as a basic unit where professionals and other members of the healthcare organisations are structured in a unidisciplinary or multi-disciplinary way. 
CE16 Demonstrate a knowledge on healthcare information systems. 
CE17 Perform nursing care on the basis of comprehensive health care, which means multi professional cooperation, process integration and continuity of treatment. 
CE18 Demonstrate an understanding of strategies to take comfort and symptom attention measures, directed to the patient and the family, in the application of palliative care in order to help easing the situation for patients in an advanced or end-stage situation. 
CE19 Present solutions to people, families or community health / illness problems, applying therapeutic relationship following the scientific method of the nursing process. 
CE20 Use scientific methodology in the interventions.
